Mr and Mrs Lavdar wanted to find a way to stay in their own home. With age creeping up and knees and legs not what they once were, they were looking for a mobility solution which could change their lives. What made you start searching for a home elevator?
We started looking because we wanted to find a way to stay in our home and we knew we needed an alternative or a way to make the house more user friendly as we were getting older and having issues with our legs. We decided that rather than move we wanted to see what we could do to make this house more adaptable to our age and needs.
Did you consider any other products?
We knew we didn’t want a stair lift. We don’t like the way it looks in a home. At first, we thought a conventional elevator would be out of our price range, but my husband did the leg work and we found Stiltz.
Did the Stiltz representative understand your needs?
Stiltz were extremely knowledgeable and very positive when I described our needs. There was no question that Stiltz was not going to fulfil our needs. They just knew exactly what we needed.
Was the installation process simple?
It was very simple and required very little preparation. Our electrician was able to incorporate the electrical needs without any issues and the installation was a day and a half. It was not only easy, but also intriguing. We were amazed at how everything came together. The Stiltz team were exceptional. They were not going to leave until they made sure it was as quiet and smooth as it could possibly be. We were very impressed with the installation.
Is your residential elevator easy to use?
It’s very easy to use. If you can push and hold a button, you can use it. Even my 90-year-old mother can use it. It’s also nice having the remote controls, because if one person has gone up in the lift and you are waiting downstairs to travel up, you can just use the remote to call the lift back down.
How do you feel using your home elevator?
I’m claustrophobic, so I remember going into the Stiltz showroom for the first time and I was having some thoughts about how I would feel but I go up and down in it all the time. It’s so open, it’s so easy and it’s not claustrophobic.
Do you use the lift to help with household chores?
Yes, we do. At Xmas time we had all of our family’s Christmas gifts in the lift to carry down to put under the tree!
What do your friends think of your Stiltz home elevator?
They are amazed at how quiet it is, how simple it is to operate and how unobtrusive it is. When you tell people you have an elevator they visualise it being a large commercial elevator, and then they see how compact and unique it is.
What’s your favorite thing about your Stiltz residential elevator?
After a while you don’t even know it’s there. It becomes part of the home and everyone who comes in is intrigued and want to try it, but then they forget it’s here.
How has your Stiltz lift changed your lives?
We love it. We use it multiple times every day..
What would you say to someone who is considering purchasing a Stiltz home elevator?
Definitely do it. It just makes life so much easier.
