For millions of Americans, naturally the Fourth of July will be unlike any other this year due to the global pandemic.
Traditionally in previous years, parades, public firework displays and parades would have been some of the most popular ways to celebrate the nation’s independence from Britain in 1776.
However, there are still plenty of other ways the country can mark July 4 with many organisers coming up with some in-genius ways of ensuring some events can go ahead without the gathering of massive crowds.
For example, in New York, the Macy’s Fireworks Show is planned to be held over a series of nights and each show will last just five minutes. These are taking place at unspecified locations and times to avoid crowds.
As has been the case since the pandemic began, many people will be pushed to celebrating Independence Day online. A huge number of events are reportedly being streamed online so people can enjoy them safely from home.
The Capitol Fourth concert, which is held in Washington DC, is one of the most well-known concerts in the USA for celebrating July 4 and, this year, it has been pre-recorded in a number of iconic locations across the United States. It will be shown both online and TV.
In Los Angeles, Califronia, an arts centre plans to host an ‘online block party’ with music to be shown live on social media platform, Facebook. Lots of other US cites are also set to host live-stream concerts as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The USS Constitution, one of the world’s oldest warships, is set to stream virtual tours with a live 21-gun salute to mark Independence Day too.
Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Content – one of the more unusual traditions which takes places every July 4 – is going ahead with Covid-19 precautions in place. This is being shown on TV and usually attracts around two million viewers.
From everyone at Stiltz Home Elevators, we would like to say a massive Happy Independence Day to all of our customers and authorized partners across the USA.
