When it comes to home elevator installation, the process can raise several questions and inquiries from homeowners.
Below, the Stiltz Home Elevators’ team has answered the top five questions customers ask when enquiring about to whether to purchase one of our residential elevators.
How Much Space is Needed to Install a Stiltz Home Elevator?
Stiltz Home Elevators are designed to seamlessly integrate into any kind of home, ranging from smaller one-bedroom homes to larger two-story spaces.
The footprint of the residential elevator, specifically the Stiltz Duo Alta, is less than six square feet, which makes it one of the smallest residential elevators available on the market. The Trio Alta Wheelchair elevator, which is designed to accommodate a wheelchair and extra person, still has a compact footprint of just under nine square feet. With minimal space needed, there is minimal disruption to the existing space, so homeowners need not worry about the home lift being in the way or ruining the aesthetics of the surroundings.
Where Can it be installed?
Because of the small dimensions of the Stiltz home elevator, it can be installed almost anywhere in the home. Most homeowners choose to place the elevator so it can access the upstairs bedroom from a downstairs area such as the living room. The elevator can also be flexibly installed inside the turn of a staircase, for example, or up to a second-floor landing. They can even be hidden out of sight within existing closets. No supporting walls are necessary, so there is complete freedom of choice when homeowners choose where to install it.
How Much Maintenance does a Stiltz Elevator Require?
Only requiring maintenance once a year, the Stiltz home elevator is built to last with high-quality building materials, backed by a 24-month parts warranty. Like any major appliance, it requires maintenance to keep it running smoothly.
However, with Stiltz’s dedicated after-sales team, homeowners can relax, knowing help is just a call away if any service is required. A trained Stiltz Authorized Dealer will help to maintain the home elevator and tend to any issues, ensuring it stays in top condition.
How Safe is it?
All Stiltz products are extremely safe, as the home elevators have safety features such as emergency stop buttons as well as height, weight, and out-of-balance sensors. Obstruction sensors are also fitted, which will immediately stop the elevator if there is anything resting on the floor lid above or below the cab. There is also a fall arrest mechanism in place, which lets homeowners turn the elevator off for safety reasons. The floor lid is even safe enough to walk on, and it fills the opening when the elevator is in a downstairs position. In case of a power cut, the elevator has a battery backup which will glide the elevator safely to the bottom floor.
How Does it Operate?
Requiring almost the same amount of power as a dishwasher, the elevator is powered by an electric winding drum system which is tucked away at the top of the elevator, so it is neatly out of sight. Stiltz home elevators are equipped with two battery-powered remote controls, so it is easy to use at anytime from anywhere. One remote is for downstairs usage, whilst the other operates the upstairs section of the home, and the controls are easy, quick, and responsive to use. The elevator can also be locked via remote controls, which is a great safety feature and can come in handy if there’s any children around or pets.
